Peter Bush

Independent Non-Executive Director and Chairman
  • Peter has been involved in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods industry for over 30 years and has held a range of directorships and executive roles with various companies since 1990, including Chief Executive Officer of ABG-McNair Australia Limited, Schwarzkopf Australasia and McDonald’s.
  • Peter was formerly an Executive Director of McDonald’s Australia Limited from 2003 to 2010 (serving as Chairman from 2006 to 2010) and each of McDonald’s Restaurants New Zealand Ltd and McDonald’s South Africa from 2005 to 2010. During this time, Peter was also a Non-Executive Director of Ronald McDonald House Charities.
  • More recently, Peter was Non-Executive Chairman of Pacific Brands Limited from 2010 to 2016, Non-Executive Director of Insurance Australia Group Limited until January 2015 and Chairman of Nine Entertainment Holdings from 2011 to 2013.
  • Peter is currently Non-Executive Chairman of, Southern Cross Media Group Limited and Inghams Group Limited.
  • Peter holds a Bachelor of Arts from Macquarie University and is a Fellow of the Australian Marketing Institute.

Kerry Robert East (Bob East)

Chief Executive Officer
  • Bob East joined the Mantra Group in 2006 and has held the position of Chief Executive Officer since 2007.
  • Bob has been responsible for the consolidation and strengthening of the Mantra Group brands and has developed the Group into one of the leading accommodation providers and marketers in Australasia.
  • Bob’s enthusiastic leadership style and vision has seen Mantra Group grow from 41 properties in 2006 to more than 128 properties in 2017. He lead the company to a successful ASX listing in June 2014 which culminated in its inclusion into the ASX 200 list in 2015 – its first year as a public company.
  • With over 20 years’ industry experience, Bob is well positioned to lead Mantra Group’s future growth prospects.
  • Bob holds a Master of Business Administration, is Chairman of Tourism Australia and a Board Member of the Gold Coast Suns Football Club (AFL).

Andrew Cummins

Non-Executive Director
  • Andrew was appointed a Non-Executive Director of the Company in July 2009 as a representative of EV Hospitality (a substantial shareholder of the Company) and served as Chairman from 2009 to 2014.
  • Andrew has been a director of a number of global companies in a broad range of industries, including Inchcape Plc from 1992 to 1997, Pacific Brands Limited from 2004 to 2010 and Nine Entertainment Co. Pty Ltd from 2008 to 2013.
  • Andrew was an advisor to CVC working with the Pan Asian Team and as a Director of a number of CVC investments from which he retired in 2015. Andrew was also a Non-Executive Director of Helloworld Limited from July 2009 until his retirement on 22 November 2016.
  • Andrew received a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Monash University, a Graduate Business Degree from The University of Newcastle and an MBA from Stanford University.

David Gibson

Independent Non-Executive Director
  • David was appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director of the Company in March 2011.
  • David is currently Chairman of Sunotel Corporation and a Non-Executive Trustee Director of industry superannuation fund Host-PLUS Pty Ltd.
  • David has over 35 years’ experience in the tourism industry and prior to joining the Company, held various roles over a 14 year period with Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels, most recently as Chief Executive Officer, Asia Pacific.
  • David holds a Diploma in Financial Markets from the Securities Institute of Australia and is a Licensed Real Estate Agent.
  • David is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and was a Founding Executive Advisory Board Member of the Bond University School of Hotel Resort and Tourism Management.

Melanie Willis

Independent Non-Executive Director
  • Melanie has extensive financial and professional services experience in both Executive and non-Executive roles in a wide range of industries and has had significant Board-level exposure to international operations and global businesses.
  • During the last 10 years, Melanie has held non-Executive Directorship roles at Aevum Limited, Hydro Tasmania, Rhodium Asset Solutions, Crowe Horwath Australasia Limited, Club Assist Limited, Ardent Leisure Limited and Pepper Group Limited.
  • Melanie has also held Senior Executive roles with Deutsche Bank (Director) and Bankers Trust Australia (Vice President) and was CEO and an Executive Director of NRMA Investments until March 2015. 
  • Melanie is currently a Non-Executive Director of, Southern Cross Media Group Limited, Challenger Limited and Challenger Life Company Limited.
  • Melanie holds a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Western Australia, a Masters of Law (Tax) from the University of Melbourne and a Company Director Diploma from the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
  • In addition, Melanie has completed a leadership course at Harvard Business School, is a member of ‘Chief Executive Women’ and the Big Issue Women’s Advisory Board. Melanie is also a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.


Independent Non-Executive Director
  • Liz has extensive commercial leadership & strategic development experience, having held senior executive roles scaling international corporations easyJet Plc, Monarch Travel Group and, most recently, as Group Executive Commercial of Virgin Australia Holdings Limited. Liz has deep expertise in the travel and tourism industries and strong operational knowledge of digital and ecommerce.
  • In 2012, Liz established a successful consulting practice advising well-recognised corporations in the travel and tourism, retail, automotive, telecommunications and technology sectors with a focus on strategic development, customer value solutions and change leadership.
  • Liz is currently Non-Executive Director of Triathlon Australia Pty Ltd and Brisbane Marketing Pty Ltd.  She is an Advisory Board Member of Madison Technologies Pty Ltd, Noel Robinson Architects Pty Ltd and Appster Pty Ltd .
  • Liz is also a Non-Executive Director of recently listed People Infrastructure Ltd.
  • Liz holds a Bachelor of Engineering from Bristol University UK, a Master of Science from Cranfield University UK and completed a Management Development Programme at Harvard Business School, USA. Liz is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Fellow of the Institute of Directors, UK.
